Mangum and Latta Family Papers
Hugh Mangum (1877-1922) was a well-known itinerant photographer in the early 1900s. He grew up in Durham at West Point on the Eno River, with his siblings Pattie, Lula, Leo, and Sallie. Pattie Mangum Latta (1880-1917) was married to Charlie Latta (1877-1921), who owned land at the corner of Latta and Guess Roads. They had four children: Thomas Garland (1901-1977); Hugh (1908-1994), who was named after his uncle; Phillips (1914-2011); and Pattie. This digital collection consists of photographs of the Mangum and Latta families, as well as photographic works done by Hugh Mangum, including a photograph of West Point Mill on the Eno River in 1910 and a glass plate negative from his photography studio featuring 15 portrait images of different women.
