R. Kelly Bryant Papers and Obituary Collection
R. Kelly Bryant (1917-2015) was a longtime resident of Durham. He worked at the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance company for 37 years and held leadership positions with several community and service organizations. He was a historian with extensive knowledge of Durham, particularly the Old Hayti community. This digital collection consists of materials related to Mr. Bryant's involvement in social, professional, and alumni organizations, his long-time involvement with the Boy Scouts, and his work on the historically Black Geer Cemetery and other cemeteries in Durham. It also includes selections from Bryant’s extensive collection of primarily local newspaper obituaries and funeral service programs.
