Photo of Nancy Gordon in her judges robes.

Nancy Gordon graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1979 and practiced general law until 1990, when she limited her practice to domestic relations and family law cases. She was elected to the district court bench in 2006 and again in 2010. Gordon was the first Durham lawyer certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a family law specialist and the only Durham lawyer elected to a fellowship with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Gordon was assigned primarily to the Durham Family Court, where she dealt with issues including divorces, child custody, property division, and child support cases. Although she lost her bid for re-election in 2014, Gordan still acts as an emergency judge when sitting judges are unavailable.
