Pam Karriker was appointed to fill the seat on the Durham County Board of Commissioners vacated by Becky Heron, who retired August 1, 2011. Karriker, a Durham native, past city council candidate, and former mortgage broker, first became interested in local government after serving as a neighborhood watch volunteer.
