Sharing Our Stories
Sharing Our Stories is a community oral history project that centers the lives and experiences of Black residents in Durham. Through recorded conversations, participants speak about family, work, education, faith, creativity, and communal leadership. The project is carrried out in partnership with the Durham Colored Library Project and the Museum of Durham History.
Completed interviews are preserved in the Durham County Library's North Carolina Collection, where they support research, teaching, and community memory work. Sharing Our Stories continues a long tradition in Durham of honoring personal histories and ensuring that they remain accessible to future generations.
